The Origin of Anomaly

I fell in love with fantastic stories when I was a child. I had been especially addicted to Wolfgang and Heike Hohlbein's fantasy novels. But with movies I tended more to science fiction. The modern fairy tale named "Star Wars" had touched me.

Nevertheless I was at daggers drawn with the german language. That's why I had only consumed novels as a child. This had changed in 1987 with a personal computer as a present for me and my brother. It was the starting point to write my own novel.

What first started highly influenced by the movie "Highlander" has been evolving over time with its own momentum. It didn't stop with the first book and continued within a short time with a second and third one. I never had the faith to present it to others even with having discovering my love for the variety of the German language as a writer. In my opinion it had been too private and half-baked.

I started to step away from the protagonist Anomaly by begin of the 90's to be able to write something with a different viewing angle. What started as an enthusiastic project ended in 1997 with a terrible emotional crash. I buried my ambitions as a writer just before finishing the fourth and last book. It lacked too much of linguistic and finetuned storytelling to be published.

The universe of the Sleepers had been buried for years until I started to feel guilty. It had to possible to finish the book even if I were missing a good ending. But then in 2006 my intuition had struck me again.

So I decided to write the book from scracth. The story had been enhanced with rising actions and been brought into a consistent state. So the joy of writing returned and the book Anomaly - Fate was born.

So came the next step to let my wife and friends know about this secret project. Surprisingly I have been supported. So I involved test readers and used the feedback to progress further. So I had finished the first draft with a proper ending by mid of 2008.

Two further revisions took place until 2011 with the help of two experienced editors. This gave the novel the required finish. The second revision had been sponsored by the "Kulturstifung Liechtenstein". I could learn a lot about proper writing thanks to this opportunity.

But who is so mad to start with the fourth or nowadays the third part of the tale? And there it is again the analogy with "Star Wars" and my personal attitude to not to do what all the other writers tend to do. The book was written to stand on its own.

I could add the prequel Anomaly - Shadow to enhance Anomaly - Fate in the meantime. And the bridge book Anomaly - Twilight is work in progress. A fourth part is planned as a grand final to give you the hidden background between the first and third part.
